GREAT Scholarships offer nine scholarships from UK universities for students from Nepal across various subjects. Each scholarship is valued at a minimum of £10,000, which goes towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate program.

The scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council, in collaboration with participating UK higher education institutions.

For the 2021-22 academic year, scholarships are available at the following universities:

  • Cranfield University
  • Teesside University
  • University of East Anglia
  • University of Edinburgh
  • University of Essex
  • University of Northampton
  • University of York
  • University of Manchester

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for a GREAT Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of Nepal.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies for entry into a UK postgraduate (taught) program.
  • Be motivated and academically capable of completing a UK postgraduate course.
  • Have relevant work experience or a demonstrated interest in the subject area.
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements of the chosen UK university.
  • Be committed to fully engaging in the UK Higher Education experience, including attending lectures, participating in extra-curricular activities, and acting as an ambassador for UK education.
  • Show a willingness to build personal and academic connections with the UK.
  • Uphold the values of the GREAT brand by becoming a scholarship advocate.
  • Be open to attending a networking event for all UK-based GREAT scholars to share experiences and insights.
